1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Diary of a Techy (“we”, “us”, “our”) designs and builds websites for individuals and businesses, and offers related services such as online stores, apps, branding, digital marketing, web hosting and domain registration. These terms apply when you use diaryofatechy.com, create a client account or buy any of our services.

By creating an account or paying for a service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you are agreeing on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are allowed to do so.

2. Your client account

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • Give us accurate details and keep them up to date, especially your email address, because we use it to send renewal reminders.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account, so tell us straight away at support@diaryofatechy.com if you think someone else has accessed it.

3. Our services and packages

The exact scope of custom work is agreed with you before we start, in a written quote or proposal (which can be sent by email or WhatsApp). Our fixed packages are:

  • Regular online store with 1 month web hosting: ₦150,000
  • Regular online store with 1 year web hosting: ₦200,000

Package prices are for a regular online store. Larger or custom stores, and features beyond a regular store, are quoted separately. Package prices do not include a domain name. Hosting included in a package starts on the day your website goes live. After the included period ends, hosting must be renewed to keep your website online.

4. Prices and payment

  • All prices are in Nigerian naira (₦) unless we tell you otherwise.
  • Full payment is required before we start any work. We confirm the amount and how to pay in your quote, and work begins once the full payment has been received.
  • We may change our prices for new orders at any time. A change will not affect work you have already paid for.

5. Domain names

  • Domain names are registered through accredited registrars such as GO54. The registrar’s and registry’s rules also apply to your domain, including the rules of NiRA for .ng domains.
  • When we register a domain for you, you pay in full before we register it: the registrar’s price at the time of your order plus a ₦5,000 service fee per domain.
  • Wherever the registry allows it, the domain is registered in your name, and you can ask us to move it to another provider.
  • Domain fees cannot be refunded once the domain has been registered, because registrars do not refund them.
  • You are responsible for renewing your domain before it expires. We will send reminders, but a domain that is not renewed can be lost.

6. Hosting and renewals

We will send renewal reminders to your account email address before your hosting or other services expire. If a service is not renewed by its expiry date, we may suspend it. If it is still not renewed 30 days after suspension, we may delete the website files and data for that service, so please keep your own copies of anything important.

7. Your content and responsibilities

  • You confirm that you own, or have permission to use, any text, images, logos, products and other material you give us to use on your website.
  • Please give feedback and approvals in good time. Delays in providing content or feedback can move delivery dates.
  • You are responsible for what you sell and publish on your website, including product descriptions, prices, delivery and any laws that apply to your business.

8. Ownership of the finished work

Once you have paid in full, you own the final design and content we create specifically for your website. We keep ownership of our own tools, templates and code that we use across projects, and you receive a licence to use them as part of your website. Third-party themes, plugins, fonts and services remain subject to their own licences. We may show your finished website in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

9. Cancellations and refunds

If you cancel before we start work, we will refund your payment minus any third-party costs we have already paid on your behalf, such as domain or hosting fees. Once work has started, payments cover the work completed and are not refundable, except where the law requires a refund.

10. Acceptable use

You must not use our websites, hosting or services for anything illegal, fraudulent or harmful. This includes scams, malware, spam, content that infringes someone else’s rights, and content that is abusive or hateful. We may suspend or remove a service that is used in this way, without a refund.

11. Third-party services

Our services rely on third parties such as hosting providers, domain registrars, payment providers and WhatsApp. Their own terms also apply. We are not responsible for outages or changes caused by these providers, but we will help you resolve problems where we can.

12. Availability and liability

We work hard to keep websites and the client portal running, but we cannot promise that they will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, lost data or lost business, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected service in the 12 months before the claim.

13. Ending the relationship

You can stop using our services and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Fees for work already completed remain payable.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in your client portal. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a dispute comes up, we will first try to resolve it with you in good faith before either of us takes formal action.
